I will meet with three legislators who are leaning toward voting yes on this bill and explain why my constituents and I think they should vote yes.
My main points are:
This bill ensures utility customers don't face the costs of new data center demand via higher energy prices
AI is causing energy demand to soar and delaying the shutdown of gas power plants,
AI is creating new data centers, which means greater water demand
More energy-efficient centers mean less water will be needed to cool them
Ultimately, this bill would reduce energy and water demand across California data centers
